DTP Operator (Desktop Publishing Operator)

A DTP Operator is responsible for creating, formatting, and preparing text and graphics for print and digital publication. The role involves working closely with designers, editors, and production teams to ensure layouts are accurate, visually appealing, and meet brand and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Create and format page layouts using desktop publishing software Input, edit, and proofread text and images according to design specifications Ensure correct alignment, spacing, fonts, colors, and image resolution Prepare files for printing or digital distribution (PDF, EPUB, etc.) Coordinate with designers, editors, and clients to implement revisions Check final outputs for errors before printing or publishing Maintain consistency with brand guidelines and style standards Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines Troubleshoot file, font, or formatting issues
Required Skills and Qualifications

Proficiency in DTP and graphic software such as: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop CorelDRAW (where applicable) Good understanding of typography, layout, and color theory Basic knowledge of printing processes and pre-press requirements Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good time-management and organizational skills Effective communication skills
Educational Requirements

Diploma or certification in Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design, or a related field Relevant work experience may be considered in place of formal education
Experience

1-3 years of experience as a DTP Operator or in a similar role (preferred) Experience in print media, publishing, advertising, or design studios is an advantage
Work Environment

Office, print shop, publishing house, or advertising agency May require extended screen time and occasional overtime to meet deadlines
