The Drama / Theatre Teacher will be responsible for shaping and delivering a vibrant theatre program across The Foundation School. The teacher should be able to envision, script or adapt plays, and direct students in engaging theatrical productions. The role involves building students' confidence, creativity, and communication skills while fostering a deep appreciation for theatre. The teacher will also play a key role in planning and implementing school-level performing arts programs and performances, in alignment with the school's liberal educational philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach drama and theatre skills to students across grade levels (K-12), including voice, movement, expression, character-building, and stagecraft.
Conceptualize, write/adapt, and direct plays and skits suitable for different age groups.
Encourage students to explore creativity, teamwork, empathy, and self-expression through theatre.
Develop and implement structured, engaging lesson plans aligned with the school's liberal educational philosophy.
Oversee all aspects of school-level dramatic productions, including auditions, rehearsals, costumes, props, stage setup, and backstage coordination.
Guide and prepare students for assemblies, celebrations, annual day programs, and other school events requiring performances.
Collaborate with Dance and Music faculty to develop and implement productions.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the school administration.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Graduate in Theatre Arts / Performing Arts / Drama or a related field.
Additional training or certification in theatre production or child drama education is desirable.
Experience:
Minimum
5 years of experience
teaching drama or directing theatre programs, preferably in a school setting.
Skills:
Strong expertise in acting, directing, scriptwriting/adaptation, and stage management.
Fluency in English with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to inspire confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm among students.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities to manage rehearsals and large-scale productions.
A passion for theatre and commitment to nurturing artistic expression among children.
