Job Summary:

The Drafter, also known as a drafting technician, is a professional who specializes in creating detailed technical drawings and plans used in construction and manufacturing. They translate the ideas of engineers and architects into precise visual representations, often using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Drafters must have a keen eye for detail, strong spatial understanding, and familiarity with design standards and building codes to produce accurate and functional designs.



Responsibilities:



Drafting and Design

Creating accurate technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software Ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications Collaborating with engineers and architects to develop detailed designs


Document Management

Organizing and maintaining project documents, including drawings, calculations, and specifications Updating and revising drawings as needed Ensuring proper version control and document tracking


Quality Control

Conducting thorough reviews of drawings for accuracy and completeness Identifying and resolving any discrepancies or errors Following company and industry standards for quality assurance


Communication

Communicating effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders Attending meetings and providing updates on project progress Responding to requests for information and making revisions based on feedback


Project Coordination

Coordinating with other drafters, designers, and engineers to ensure consistency and accuracy in project drawings Working closely with project managers to meet deadlines and adhere to project timelines Assisting with project planning and scheduling

Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in drafting technology Participating in training and professional development opportunities Maintaining a strong understanding of drafting principles and techniques.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a specialized area, such as drafting or Engineering Technology or a related field with at least 2 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD. Ability to produce precise and accurate drawings. Strong understanding of geometry and algebra to calculate dimensions and allowances. Good communication abilities to understand and follow instructions from architects and engineers. The capacity to convert ideas into technical drawings.
