Job Description

A Duty Medical Officer (DMO) provides immediate medical care, manages patient admissions and discharges, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care, especially in hospital settings. They diagnose, treat, and monitor patients, and are often responsible for handling emergencies and ensuring the smooth flow of care within their assigned area.

Patient Assessment and Care:

Conduct initial assessments, diagnose conditions, and provide immediate care to patients.

Treatment and Management:

Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as needed, monitoring patient progress and adjusting plans accordingly.

Emergency Response:

Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide advanced life support as required.

Collaboration:

Work with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

Education and Communication:

Provide information and education to patients and families regarding their conditions and treatment plans.

Quality Improvement:

Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Typically requires a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and a valid medical license.
