The Directory Services Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of the organization's directory service infrastructure. This role ensures the directory's security, performance, and reliability using solutions such as PingDirectory, ForgeRock DS, or OpenDS. The engineer will manage user and application identities, enforce access controls, and integrate directory services with other critical enterprise systems.

PingDirectory ForgeRock DS OpenDJ / OpenDS Oracle DSEE OpenLDAP JVM Monitoring (JVisualVM, JConsole, GC Logs) Python / Shell / Perl / Groovy Ansible / Terraform / Puppet / Chef Linux Networking & Security

Key Areas:

Administration & Maintenance:

Daily monitoring and maintenance of PingDirectory, ForgeRock DS, or OpenDS servers.

Installation & Upgrades:

Install, configure, patch, and upgrade directory environments.

High Availability & Replication:

Configure and manage multi-master replication across data centers.

Security & Access Control:

Implement ABAC, RBAC, and encryption for secure data handling.

Troubleshooting:

SME for LDAP, synchronization, and performance bottlenecks.

Performance Tuning:

Optimize indexes, JVM settings, and server parameters for high workloads.

Integration:

Connect directory services with IAM components and enterprise apps (LDAP, REST, SCIM).

Automation:

Use scripting and DevOps tools (Ansible, Terraform) for setup and monitoring.

Backup & Recovery:

Implement and validate restore procedures to ensure disaster recovery readiness.

Schema Management:

Extend schema for new applications and attributes without downtime.

Collaboration:

Partner with developers, network engineers, and security teams to meet business needs.
