Day to Day




As an engineering manager in the Matching, Monetization and Sourcing group, you would partner with your product, science and UX counterparts to build systems that help move the talent marketplace for Indeed products worldwide.


Your role is to ensure that the engineering group is building a highly scalable, available, and flexible platform with associated ML/AI components that work to deliver experiences for job seekers and employers. The goal is to fulfill the need for partner products, featuring teams within Indeed in the US and internationally.


You would work with managers across cross-functional areas and the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) to help accomplish our mission. In conjunction with your product, science, and UX counterparts, you would be responsible for managing a team with multiple senior managers and senior technical ICs. You will report to a VP of engineering based in the US.


You would provide technical leadership and guidance and help facilitate the team's development of new capabilities and systems, driving execution efficiency while simultaneously solving for scale, resilience, and reliability.


You would coach and grow employees and help them be successful as individual contributors or managers at Indeed. You would partner with other technical managers, provide thought leadership, and help accomplish initiatives outside the immediate scope of responsibility through influence or guidance.


Responsibilities




Grow, inspire, and influence to make sure your team is successful. Partner with the recruiting team to attract and retain high-quality and diverse talent. Establish a great rapport with other development teams, Product Managers, Sales, and Customer Success to maintain high visibility, efficiency, and collaboration levels. Ensure teams have appropriate technical direction, leadership, and balance between short-term impact and long-term architectural vision. Ensure that the group remains execution-focused and effective in a fast-paced environment. Manage 2-5 software engineering teams and directly manage 5-7 managers or individual contributors. Promote Cross-Functional Engagement - Influence and align across geographies, time zones, and functions to prioritize investments that drive business outcomes and customer success. Make Data-Driven Conclusions - Apply data-based rigor to conclusions. Evaluate complex tradeoffs, manage ambiguity, and clearly communicate rationale to diverse decision-makers. Own Operational Excellence - Ensure your teams deliver resilient and observable systems. Support production operations, on-call, and incident response with a culture of continuous improvement.

Skills/Competencies




12+ years of experience in software engineering, including 7+ years in technical and people leadership roles. Experience leading a geographically distributed software engineering organization comprising multiple teams. Experience building solid partnerships with other job functions, like the product, science, and UX, to keep teams partnering smoothly and working together to improve the product. Desire to comprehend the root cause and details of systems, and get hands-on with data and insights to evaluate how the team and the product are growing. Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures, building high-performance distributed systems in the cloud. Proven track record leading multiple teams or organizations, including engineering managers. Expertise in building large-scale, data-intensive, or AdTech systems with measurable business impact. Exceptional knowledge of backend architectures, system design, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines. Experience partnering with global, cross-functional teams and senior decision-makers. Experience in engineering two-sided marketplaces (Eg, Airbnb, Vrbo, LinkedIn) is highly desirable.

Salary Range Transparency




India 10,480,000 - 15,720,000 INR per year

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
