There has never been a more pivotal time to join the sustainable plastics revolution. The industry is under immense pressure from consumers and companies alike to innovate at an astonishing rate, providing a new, circular economy in packaging and hygiene materials. This global and rapidly-growing polymer technology scale-up is changing the plastic pollution landscape through their proprietary biodegradation system. They are now searching for an experienced Director of Innovation & Partnerships to build the technical ecosystem for the company\'s technology in India. This is a highly technical position which also requires a strong degree of commercial acumen, and the ability to influence at the highest levels within governments, associations and global FMCG brand businesses. As a leader in one of the most established territories, it\'s crucial that you are not only setting the standard and providing the team with the tools and support needed to complete high-stakes projects, but also setting high standards and sharing excellence across the organisation to set up new and emerging markets. Alongside the core technical work, you will provide expertise to, and develop strategies with the India leadership team, including colleagues in Policy, Marketing and the CEO. In this position you act as a leading advocate for the company\'s technology in India, including representing the company\'s interests in key governmental and industry forums. Working with government and private laboratories, you will develop the appropriate ecosystem for testing and analysis, and lead technical projects with key partners in India to develop new standards for biodegradable plastics in India. A proven, respected polymer innovation professional with a desire to impact serious environmental change will excel in this position. You must be a strategic thinker , responsible for identifying opportunities to extend influence and develop commercial initiatives. The most suitable person for the position will drive results , and be able to clearly show how their activities translate into measurable gains, including directly into commercial outcomes or the company\'s global goals. Through meaningful relationship building at all levels across the value chain, you will educate key influencers on the issue and solution, and therefore should be able to demonstrate prior experience of creating new introductions and growing existing relationships. If you have a 15+ year scientific background in polymer/ materials science, as well as a proven track record of acting as a technical liaison for potential and existing customers, governments and associations, then this could be a great opportunity for you. For this position, it is essential you have: PhD in Chemistry, Polymer/ Materials Science, or a related field. Proven 15+ years\' experience in plastics, packaging, masterbatch or FMCG industry. Experience working in a disruptive capacity - changing the narrative in conservative markets in order to commercialise new technologies. Demonstrable experience in leading teams and projects. Deep existing network amongst polymer, packaging and plastics stakeholders in India. Technically excellent, able to clearly explain and demonstrate complex concepts to multi-faceted teams of stakeholders. High-EQ personality, able to engage and influence at the highest levels, combining granular technical knowledge with good commercial awareness.
