REPORTING TO: Head of School

COLLABORATES WITH: Head of School, Academic Principal, Director of Residential Life, Facilities Manager

SUPERVISES: Transportation staff, Medical staff, Dining staff, Security staff, Store Keeper

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Director of Human Resources (HR) serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the Head of School and the school's leadership team. S/he is responsible for providing strategic HR leadership that results in a high-performing, engaged and more productive workforce. This position requires a seasoned HR professional, with excellent interpersonal skills, experience in leadership coaching, managing an HR team and a proven ability to adapt to a growing and changing environment and multiple functional groups and stakeholders.

The Health and Safety Manager works to ensure that the school campus is safe and meets the health and safety standards set by the management. Managers perform some duties at their desk but also walk around facilities to oversee operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Responsibilities: The Director of HR will coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Human Resources operations of the school. This includes formulating HR strategies, managing areas of staff recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, staff compensation administration, performance appraisals, professional development, and employee relations.

Key areas of responsibility of this role can be broadly defined as: * Partner with other leadership team members to fully understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, including future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

  • Develop and sustain strategic and day-to-day consultative relationships with senior leaders and their respective teams and act with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility as a trusted coach, advisor and confidant on school and talent-related issues and opportunities.
  • Work with the functional heads to identify the org structures, competencies, and processes needed to help the school run more effectively.
  • Proactively identify trends and risk factors and provide solutions and recommendations to positively impact employee satisfaction, engagement, and productivity.
  • Develop, review and implement policies related to all phases of Human Resources; In conjunction with the lawyer, oversee the accuracy, and legal compliance, and update policies in the Staff handbook.
  • Lead the recruitment and selection process for all regular and temporary staff positions including internal and external postings, advertisements, interviews, and hiring.
  • Oversee the new hire onboarding and the end of employment off-boarding processes.
  • Compensation, Benefits and Employment Contract Management. Develop and maintain job descriptions in collaboration with the department heads; use salary surveys and internal comparisons to evaluate positions and relative compensation.
  • Oversee the annual Statutory and bi-annual Internal Audits process for the HR Department.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for HR escalations, resolutions, and reporting. Lead with confidentiality, trust, compliance, and empathy.
  • Manage and conduct HR investigations, in accordance with the appropriate policy, including creating an investigative plan, conducting notifications to appropriate stakeholders, conducting witness interviews, making determinations, drafting investigation findings and reports, and communicating investigation outcomes with key stakeholders.
  • Administer the staff performance appraisal program.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The Health & Safety Manager will

Monitor Workplace Health and Safety
  • Look for possible problems in the workplace (kitchen, medical, grounds, transportation, store, security) both informally and through scheduled inspections
  • Spot hazards before negative incidents occur
  • Create a better environment and ensure the school complies with government and industry regulations
  • Maintenance schedules are created and followed
Train Employees
  • Teach employees about safety policies and procedures
  • Instruct new hires and retrain existing workers with drills, seminars, and periodic reminders to keep vital information
Encourage Best Health and Safety Practices
  • Develop programmes to promote and reward positive behaviour
  • Ask staff members for feedback and suggestions on how to improve the workplace
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree, preferably an MBA specializing in Human Resources Management.
  • Minimum of five years of HR leadership experience in managing all functions of a Human Resources department involving a significant level of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to motivate, build, develop and lead a high-performing team that is able to effectively and independently engage in cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
  • Successful candidates will possess superior consultative, influencing and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Experience implementing and working with Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, including advanced knowledge and comfort in using MS Excel and HRIS systems.
  • Experience working in a diverse, international, multicultural environment and managing a complex workforce structure.
  • Experience handling staff disciplinary and legal matters.
  • Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail.
