Strategic Leadership:

Defining the department's vision and technical roadmap.

Team Management:

Hiring, training, mentoring, and overseeing multiple engineering teams.

Project Oversight:

Managing the entire project lifecycle, from concept to delivery and maintenance.

Budgeting & Resources:

Handling departmental budgets and ensuring effective resource allocation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Working with other departments (HR, Finance, Product) and stakeholders.

Quality & Compliance:

Ensuring adherence to engineering best practices, standards, and regulations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications

Education:

Typically a degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

Experience:

Extensive background in senior engineering and management roles.

Leadership:

Strong ability to lead, motivate, and build trust.

Technical Acumen:

Deep understanding of relevant engineering fields.

Soft Skills:

Excellent critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
Role in the Hierarchy

Sits above engineering managers, overseeing multiple teams and functions. Often called "Head of Engineering" or "VP of Engineering".
