The Director of Academic Affairs is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and development of academic programs and policies within an educational institution. This role ensures the academic integrity and excellence of the institution by overseeing curriculum development, faculty performance, accreditation compliance, and student academic support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and direction for all academic programs and initiatives.
Develop, implement, and evaluate academic policies, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Supervise department heads, faculty, and academic staff to maintain high-quality instruction and academic outcomes.
Coordinate curriculum planning, development, review, and revision across departments.
Promote a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Oversee student academic affairs, including academic advising, assessment, retention strategies, and performance monitoring.
Facilitate faculty recruitment, hiring, orientation, professional development, and evaluations.
Ensure proper documentation and reporting to accrediting bodies and educational authorities.
Collaborate with other directors and senior leadership to align academic goals with institutional mission and vision.
Lead internal reviews and assessments to support institutional accreditation and quality assurance.
Manage academic budgets, resources, and departmental planning.
Qualifications:
Master's degree required; Doctorate (PhD )preferred in education, administration, or a related academic field.
Minimum of 17-20 years of progressive experience in academic administration, with leadership experience in curriculum or faculty management.
Strong understanding of higher education policies, accreditation processes, and academic standards.
Proven ability to manage teams, lead projects, and implement institutional initiatives.
Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Experience with data-driven academic planning and student success strategies.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in international or multicultural academic settings.
Familiarity with online learning platforms and academic technology.
Grant writing or academic research management experience
