Job Description


A leading Indian law firm with14 offices across India is looking for an experienced finance professional to lead end-to-end accounting and financial analysis support services for the firm. The Director will supervise the Finance & Accounting Team to execute daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities and liaise directly with the Managing Partner and Senior Management to provide regular FP&A reports for informing business strategy of the firm. The person will also work closely with stakeholders to provide billing analysis, manage working capital, and analyse profitability. Overtime, review processes and suggest improvements for greater efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities :

The Director of Finance will oversee the daily financial operations firm, acting as Financial Controller, and will also oversee business support function of the finance department, liaising with Senior Management and Partners.

1) Accounting Operations :

- Oversee key accounting, tax and financial processes:

- Maintaining of accurate books of accounts based on accepted accounting standards

- Production of regular and ad hoc financial statements (P&L and balance sheet; monthly, quarterly and yearly closing)

- Payroll & other accounts payable

- Tax and other financial regulation compliance, Indian and foreign where applicable (including TDS, GST, DTA)

- Provide regular financial information to partners/group heads

- Preparation of annual and quarterly expenditure budget for support services

- Liaise with HR to align financial and HR strategy. Advice on taxation implications in incentives & benefits

- Track expenditure with projections and analyse causes of variance

2) Working Capital Management (Cash Management) & Billing Support

- Track and time accounts receivable and payable to ensure operating cash on a monthly basis

- Ensure timely updates are given to management/partners regarding accounts receivable

- Devise systems & processes to enable multi-practice billing

- Provide timely and regular support to partners in co-ordinating billing and invoice raising

3) Financial Analysis

- Analyse billing write-offs and accounts payable to understand if processes and practices are optimal

- Identify lock-ups and points of delay in accounts receivable

- Report profitability, collection and cost data in various permutations with respect to practice groups/partners/regions/deliverables

4)FP&A Analysis

- Provide client and matter profitability reports

- Liaise with practice heads to analyse growth opportunities considering market, capital expenditure and investments. Model growth forecasts.

- Analyse financial risk at firm and practice level

5) Operations

- Identify inefficiencies in current financial, billing and collection processes and suggest improvements to support partners

- Improve billing and collection

- Identify technology inputs which may enable improving processes

6) Team Lead

- Manage the finance team to meet deliverable timely

- Identify required talent and coordinate recruitment, if required
