Functional Area Description CDR&A is responsible for the ingestion, transformation and delivery of clinical data to internal stakeholders, primarily to Biometrics and Data Sciences. CDR&A also acts as the study interface for delivery of reports and analytics to enable effective data review, trial status and risk identification. Engagement of clinical trial functions for reporting and analytic needs. Technical SMEs to ensure expert consultation on data modeling, transformation, and best-fit reporting tools. Position Summary / Objective The Director, Clinical Data Warehousing and Delivery is a leadership role with oversight of clinical data receipt, ingestion, modeling, transformation, warehousing, and delivery to internal and external trial data stakeholders. Responsibility includes the provisioning of raw clinical data for health authorities as required by regulations or upon inspection request. This role directly contributes to the BMS R&D pipeline. This role reports to the Head of Clinical Data Reporting & Analytics within GDM&CM and is a full-time, office-based position Position Responsibilities Provide comprehensive leadership of the Clinical Data Warehousing and Delivery function. Lead the centralized delivery of clinical trial data using innovative and forward-thinking Extract Transform and Load (ETL) and Warehousing solutions in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure the team is driving the data receipt, ingestion, modeling, transformation, warehousing, and delivery strategies for clinical and operational trial data. Champion consistency across programs and therapeutic areas. Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to establish and maintain documented, secure methods for clinical data flow and delivery to internal and external recipients and to ensure a standardized approach. Ensure delivery against the book of work. Work with staff and colleagues to forecast future resource needs and to resolve any resource constraints Lead a global team of professionals that contribute significantly to BMS portfolio of clinical trials. Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and career development, including engagement and retention support to staff to maximize their potential. Empowering and holding staff to high quality performance and delivery. Engage and energize employees through communication of goals, priorities, and other business critical information as well as focus on employee value proposition, development, and retention activities. Lead the development and maintenance of procedural documents which are reflective of industry standards and regulatory requirements and include optimal processes. Ensuring procedural documents are understood by the team and followed. Lead the resolution of complex issues related to the function and those that operate across functions. Directing team members as needed to drive to resolution and keeping leadership informed of progress/results. Lead significant continuous improvement activities, defining and implementing the changes required to create industry leading ETL, warehousing, and delivery capabilities. Lead the representation of the function for Health Authority inspections and internal audits. Ensuring preparations and follow-up actions are being completed effectively by the team. Understand industry evolution to provide insight in the development and application of smart systems and optimal approaches that support the ingestion, modeling, transformation, extraction, and delivery of data which simplify and enhance the user experience and/or lead to efficiencies in execution. Develop strong and productive working relationships with key leaders throughout BMS with the ability to think strategically across a broad portfolio and effectively express his/her views to senior management. Ensure effective quality oversight and management of external partners (e.g., Function Service Providers, CROs, technology providers, etc.) Represent the Company in interactions with key external partners as part of any committee or industry group relating to data delivery, ETL technologies, data warehousing, or clinical programming concepts. Degree Requirements BS computer science, programming, data management, scientific or analytic discipline. An advanced degree is preferred. Experience Requirements At least 8 years of relevant industry experience with substantial expertise in clinical data modeling and warehousing strategies, and ETL technologies Successful track record of leading through influence, working across complex, global organizational matrices, and effectively managing staff. Key Competency Requirements Expert understanding of the drug development process and clinical trial start-up/execution. Proven expertise in ETL technologies, data warehousing, and clinical programming in a global arena. Expert knowledge of industry leading ETL tools and well versed in industry trends and emerging technologies supporting all aspect of innovative and compliant data delivery. Strong knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines. Influential leadership and communication capabilities with a proven ability to engage, manage, develop, and inspire a geographically diverse team. Proven ability to lead and make decisions with an enterprise mindset, considering what is best for the company and for patients. Strong technical expertise, technical writing ability, and proficiency in Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) principles. Diverse and sufficient technical expertise to be a credible interface to all global development and business partners (medical, development, commercial, regulatory, quality etc.) Broad intelligence of the clinical trial environment across key regions and anticipation of future trends and impact.
