We're now looking for a highly motivated professional to join us as Data Engineer - someone who is both ready and eager to be part of our digitalization journey included in our Supply 2025 strategy (Supply is Sandvik Coromant name for Operations). You will support the execution of the next steps of our Transformation 4.0 program, the Factory of the Future roadmap and the implementation of digital initiatives across all our production sites worldwide. About the job

As Digital Application Factory Data Engineer, you would be supporting the Digital Innovations team with new and continued analysis of the available data as well as be responsible for the scaling, storing, processing, and migrating of data assets necessary to drive adoption of digital innovations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Data Platform related tasks such as solution design and implementation of stream processing, ETL and pipeline automation toolchains
  • Concrete pipelining tasks such as configuring data flows from source systems to the data lake and/or various lakeshore access layer stacks
  • Create and distribute series of timely and accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports to the PMO showing operational performance by process and/or product
  • Produce insightful reporting to guide recommendations for prioritization and investment
  • Help with ad hoc analysis and building robust business cases to test new digital innovations, processes and operational changes that will improve productivity and end user experience
  • Working with the team to develop intelligent dashboards, reporting, and analysis tools
Key Competencies and Skills
  • Strong understanding of KPI impact on business performance
  • Experience in data visualization, data modelling and data analysis (preferably PowerBI).
  • Experience in data engineering (non-drag and drop ETL, data wrangling, data quality, warehousing, etc.)
  • Familiar with cloud automation, e.g. infrastructure as code
  • Experience with open source/open standards big data technologies, e.g.: Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, Cassandra, Drill, Databricks, EMR/HDInsight, etc.
  • Experience with streaming data technology and uses: Kafka/Kinesis, Confluent Platform, Flink, Samza, Spark Streaming, Druid, Elasticsearch, etc.
  • Solid command of one or more of: Java, Scala, Python
  • Good understanding of data structures and database technologies
  • Comfortable in Linux/bash
  • Experience with Kubernetes & Containers
  • Experience with good software practices: Version control (git), CI/CD, writing maintainable code, KISS, DRY, SOLID, test automation, etc.
  • Experience in cloud solution design, preferably Azure
  • Keen to learn and continue the development of their technical skillset
  • Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines and handle changing priorities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Customer / service orientated
Education and Experience:
  • B.E, B.Tech or M.S. in a mathematical, statistical, scientific, engineering or comparable discipline, or the equivalent knowledge gained from a working career.
  • Hands-on Experience working in a digital innovations setting or as part of a Digital Transformation team for at least 3-5 years, preferably in a global manufacturing/ process industry
  • Previous experience from working in manufacturing and/or operations management is a plus

In this position, you will be a part of the Digital Innovations Team in Sandvik Coromant Supply Operations and this means that you're located at our manufacturing sites in Pune, India.
