The Dietitian is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring nutritional care plans for patients to promote health, manage diseases, and support recovery. The role involves close coordination with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment & Counseling
Assess patients' nutritional needs based on medical condition, age, and lifestyle.
Provide individualized diet plans for OPD, IPD, ICU, and Day care patients.
Counsel patients and attendants on therapeutic diets and healthy eating habits.
Clinical Nutrition Management
Prepare diet charts for various conditions (diabetes, cancer, renal, cardiac, post-surgical, pediatric, geriatric, etc.).
Monitor patient progress and modify diet plans as required.
Ensure nutritional adequacy for patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery .
Coordination & Documentation
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and kitchen staff for effective diet implementation.
Maintain proper documentation of diet plans, counseling records, and follow-ups.
Participate in ward rounds with Consultants.
Food Safety & Quality Control
Ensure hygienic food preparation and distribution as per hospital standards.
Monitor food quality, portion control, and diet compliance.
Health Education & Awareness
Conduct nutrition education sessions for patients, attendants, and staff.
Participate in health camps, awareness programs, and community outreach.
Administrative Duties
Assist in planning hospital menus and special diets.
Maintain inventory and help in cost-effective nutrition planning.
Follow hospital policies, NABH/quality standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualification & Experience:
Qualification:
B.Sc./M.Sc. in Nutrition / Dietetics or equivalent
Experience:
minimum 2-3 years experience in a hospital setup (preferred)
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of clinical and therapeutic nutrition
Good communication and counseling skills
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Patient-friendly approach and empathy
Documentation and reporting skills
