Assess the nutritional status of patients through clinical evaluation and dietary history.
Identify nutritional risks and plan appropriate dietary interventions.
Diet Planning & Implementation
Prepare individualized diet plans based on medical conditions (diabetes, renal, cardiac, gastrointestinal issues, etc.).
Coordinate with doctors and nursing staff to ensure accurate diet implementation.
Dietary Counselling
Provide counselling to inpatients and outpatients regarding therapeutic diets.
Educate patients and families on nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and healthy eating habits.
Diet Preparation & Supervision
Oversee preparation of special diets in accordance with SOPs.
Ensure hygiene, food safety, and quality in the hospital kitchen.
Documentation & Monitoring
Maintain detailed records of patient diets, counselling, and follow-up.
Monitor patient progress and revise diet plans as needed.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure adherence to NABH standards and hospital diet protocols.
Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Inventory & Procurement
Coordinate with the purchase department for diet materials.
Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of diet-related items.
Training & Coordination
Train dietary and kitchen staff on hygienic practices and updated diet protocols.
Attend departmental meetings and interdisciplinary discussions.
Qualifications:
B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Food & Nutrition / Clinical Nutrition / Dietetics
Relevant clinical experience preferred
Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and hospital nutrition standards
Skills Required:
Excellent communication and counselling skills
Good clinical judgement
Knowledge of NABH dietary guidelines
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary medical team
