To provide safe, efficient, and compassionate dialysis treatment to patients with kidney failure by operating dialysis machines, monitoring patients, and maintaining high standards of quality and infection control.

Key ResponsibilitiesA. Patient Care
Prepare the patient for dialysis (vital signs, weight, assessment).
Explain procedure steps to the patient and provide reassurance.
Cannulate AV fistula / administer catheter access as per protocol.
Monitor patient condition throughout the session (BP, pulse, symptoms).
Report any abnormal findings immediately to the nephrologist or nurse in charge.
Provide post-dialysis care and document findings.
B. Dialysis Procedure Management
Set up and prime the dialysis machine correctly before each session.
Monitor machine functioning, dialyzer pressures, and fluid removal levels.
Ensure correct dialyzer and tubing are used for each patient.
Terminate dialysis safely following protocol.
Dispose dialysis consumables as per Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) guidelines.
C. Equipment & Facility Maintenance
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of dialysis machines.
Check quality of RO water and maintain logs.
Immediately report machine malfunction to maintenance/biomedical team.
Ensure availability of consumables (dialyzers, needles, syringes, heparin, etc.).
D. Documentation & Records
Maintain dialysis treatment records for each session.
Record pre- and post-dialysis vitals, UF values, and patient complaints.
Update stock register and inform in-charge before shortage.
Maintain disinfection records, water quality reports, and machine logs.
E. Infection Control & Safety
Follow strict aseptic techniques during cannulation and catheter care.
Adhere to all hospital infection control protocols.
Ensure correct segregation and disposal of all dialysis waste.
Use PPE (gloves, mask, gown, face shield) without fail.
F. Patient Support & Communication
Educate patients on diet, fluid restrictions, and safety guidelines.
Provide emotional support and build trust with patients undergoing repeated sessions.
Maintain patient confidentiality and professional behaviour.
3. Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Diploma / Certificate in Dialysis Technology from recognized institution.
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of dialysis machines, RO plant, and consumables.
Good communication & patient handling skills.
Ability to manage emergencies (hypotension, cramps, access issues).
Basic computer skills for documentation.
4. Work Environment & Conditions
Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays.
Exposure to blood, fluids, and infection--strict PPE compliance required.
Direct interaction with chronic patients requiring empathy and patience.
