Import, organize, and relink all media (RAW footage, proxies, VFX shots, graphics) according to the offline edit.
Reconstruct the final edit accurately ("conform") based on EDLs, XMLs, AAFs, or reference videos.
Ensure that frame rates, resolutions, aspect ratios, and color spaces are correct and consistent.
2. Quality Control and Technical Accuracy
Verify shot continuity, timecodes, and metadata integrity.
Identify and resolve missing media, offline clips, or mismatches between offline and online edits.
Perform technical QC to ensure that all shots meet required specifications before grading.
3. Collaboration with Colorists and VFX Teams
Prepare timelines in accordance with the colorist's workflow preferences.
Integrate VFX updates, versioning, and shot replacements into the conform.
Maintain clear communication with editors, colorists, VFX supervisors, and production teams.
4. Data Management
Organize and maintain secure file structures for all project assets.
Track media versions and ensure the correct files are used in the final conform.
Prepare and manage project backups, archives, and delivery folders.
5. Pre-grading and Technical Preparation
Apply initial color transforms (ACES, LUTs, camera log conversions) as required.
Check for issues such as dropped frames, color space mistakes, or misaligned audio.
6. Final Deliverables and Mastering Support
Assist in preparing master outputs, including final graded timelines, DCPs, or broadcast packages.
Ensure all deliverables meet technical specifications and industry standards.
7. Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed conform notes, version histories, and change logs.
Report technical issues or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.
