About the Role:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Test Engineer to specialize in testing and ensuring a seamless large-screen user experience on Android devices. In this role, you will be a key part of the team responsible for validating and optimizing our applications for Android laptops, tablets, foldables, and ChromeOS devices. You will be instrumental in identifying and resolving issues related to multi-windowing, UI responsiveness, input device support, and overall user interaction on larger form factors.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases specifically for Android applications on large-screen devices.
Conduct thorough manual and automated testing to ensure a high-quality user experience across various form factors, screen resolutions, and orientations (portrait and landscape).
Test and validate core large-screen features, including:
Multi-window and split-screen mode: Ensure app functionality, UI responsiveness, and state retention when resizing or moving between windows.
Keyboard, mouse, and trackpad support: Verify proper functionality for navigation, text input, right-click context menus, and other interactions.
Foldable device postures: Test app behavior in tabletop, book, and dual-screen modes.
Stylus support: Validate functionality for drawing, selecting, and other interactions (if applicable).
Display and Layout: Ensure layouts are adaptive and render correctly without stretching or clipping UI elements.
Identify, document, and report bugs and inconsistencies with clear, concise, and detailed reports in our bug-tracking system (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and UI/UX designers to define testing strategies, troubleshoot issues, and provide feedback on design and implementation.
Perform regression testing to ensure that new features and bug fixes do not introduce regressions on any form factor.
Stay up-to-date with the latest Android large-screen guidelines, best practices, and new OS features.
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of professional experience in Quality Assurance with a strong focus on mobile or desktop applications.
Proven experience in testing Android applications on a variety of devices (phones, tablets, and laptops).
Solid understanding of the Android operating system and its development environment.
Familiarity with bug-tracking software and test case management tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively report issues and collaborate with a cross-functional team.
Experience with test automation frameworks for Android, such as Espresso or Appium.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Kotlin) for test automation.
Understanding of UI/UX design principles, particularly as they apply to large screens and adaptive layouts.
Prior experience testing on ChromeOS or other desktop operating systems.
