Job Description

Lead and manage the design team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to engineers and designers working on heavy structural projects. Oversee the conceptualization, design, and detailed engineering of heavy structural components, such as bridges, industrial buildings, offshore platforms, steel structures, and other large-scale infrastructure projects. Ensure that designs are in compliance with industry standards, local codes, and regulations, ensuring structural integrity and safety. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align the design process with project timelines, budgets, and objectives. Review and approve all design documents, drawings, and calculations to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness. Implement best practices in structural design, utilizing cutting-edge software and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Revit, Tekla). Conduct structural analysis and simulations to verify design viability and perform optimization when necessary. Identify potential risks and design challenges early in the project and proactively develop mitigation strategies. Liaise with clients and external partners to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise during the design phase. Monitor and evaluate team performance, ensuring that design work is completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in structural design, and incorporate them into design strategies when appropriate. Maintain a strong focus on sustainability and cost-effectiveness while ensuring the designs meet performance and safety criteria. Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and presentations to senior management and clients as needed.
