Shall be responsible for the co-ordinating the design activities of the design department.
Shall be responsible for the checking of engineering drawings and releasing the same for manufacturing.
Shall be responsible for checking calculations and estimates and verifying their accuracy
Shall report to the senior manager on a daily basis on the work progress.
Shall be self motivated and shall be capable of guiding a team engineers independently.
Shall take responsibilities to meet the deadlines critical to the project.
Shall comply with departmental policies, procedures and instructions.
Coordinate with other departments to make sure their requirements from Design Department are met.
The engineer shall have good knowledge about mechanical engineering subjects like strength of materials, force and load calculations, stress analysis fluid mechanics and material properties.
Should have at least 8 years experience in the field of design and should have a minimum 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing industry - preferably heavy engineering.
Should have a thorough knowledge about materials and their selection for various applications
Should be capable of understanding and interpreting engineering governing codes, like ANSI B 16.34, API 609, ASME Section VIII etc..
Should have thorough knowledge of engineering tolerances and ways and means of achieving the same.
Should be capable to taking responsibilities to meet the deadlines critical to the project.
Working experience in using Pro-e or similar 3D modeling package (3D modelling, assembly and drafting) with good hands on AutoCAD.
Should be able to independently carryout analytical design calculations.
Shall be capable of training engineers
