Design Engineer - Wood Industry

Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and preparing 2D and 3D design drawings for furniture, wooden components, and interior elements using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The role involves converting client requirements into detailed production drawings, optimizing materials, and coordinating with production teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Create

2D layouts and 3D models

of furniture, joinery, and wooden structures using

AutoCAD

and

SolidWorks

. Develop

detailed fabrication drawings

, assembly drawings, and material lists for production. Study

client drawings, specifications, and design briefs

, and prepare conceptual layouts accordingly. Coordinate with

production, procurement, and quality teams

to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective. Make necessary

design modifications

based on production feedback or client revisions. Perform

material optimization and nesting plans

to reduce waste. Conduct

fitment and tolerance checks

in SolidWorks for joinery and assemblies. Ensure designs meet

industry standards, safety, and quality requirements

. Maintain a library of standard parts, fittings, and design templates. Support new product development (NPD) initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Strong proficiency in

SolidWorks

. Excellent command of

AutoCAD (2D drafting, detailing, layout preparation)

. Knowledge of

wood materials, hardware, joinery techniques, and finishes

. Good understanding of

manufacturing processes

such as CNC cutting, edge banding, veneering, etc. Ability to read and interpret

architectural and interior drawings

. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications:

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in

Mechanical Engineering / Furniture Design / Wood Technology

or related field.

2-5 years of experience

in furniture design, woodworking, or modular furniture manufacturing industry. Experience with

SolidWorks and AutoCAD

is mandatory.

Preferred:

Exposure to

modular furniture systems

or

custom joinery work

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹48,000.00 per month
