Design Engineer - SPM (Packing, Sealing & Filling Machines

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Engineer to lead the design and development of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) for applications such as blister packing, pouch sealing, liquid/solid filling, and secondary packaging. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machine design using CAD software, strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, and a background in high-speed automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop custom SPMs for packing, sealing, and filling applications (e.g. sachet machines, blister packers, bottle fillers). Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and assembly layouts using SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Inventor. Perform mechanism and kinematic analysis to ensure smooth motion, timing, and output performance. Select mechanical components: pneumatics, actuators, motors, sensors, gearboxes, conveyors etc. Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers for mechatronic integration. Prepare and validate Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement and fabrication. Coordinate with the fabrication and assembly teams during prototyping and production. Conduct design reviews, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and FMEA assessments. Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of machines at customer sites if required. Maintain comprehensive design documentation and revision history.
Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 3-8 years of experience in SPM design, particularly in packing, filling, sealing, or FMCG/pharma machinery. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Strong understanding of mechanisms, automation components, and motion control. Familiar with hygienic design principles (for food/pharma machines). Knowledge of manufacturing processes: machining, welding, sheet metal, etc. Problem-solving mindset with hands-on mechanical aptitude.
