Create 2D & 3D models of castings, tooling, and components using CAD software (e.g., UniGraphics NX/UG).
Prepare and modify casting drawings in line with customer requirements and industry standards.
Ensure designs comply with
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
and automotive/industrial standards.
Validation & Optimization
Perform design validation, modifications, and improvements based on trial feedback.
Support cost reduction initiatives by optimizing casting designs and tooling layouts.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure designs meet
customer specifications, safety, and quality standards
.
Work closely with QA teams to resolve design-related issues.
Collaboration
Coordinate with R&D, manufacturing, and suppliers for smooth execution of projects.
Provide technical support during prototype and production phases.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of
foundry processes
(sand casting, die casting, investment casting).
Proficiency in CAD tools (UG/NX, AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks).
Understanding of
metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment processes
.
Familiarity with
DFM (Design for Manufacturability)
and
cost optimization techniques
.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech)
in Mechanical/Production/Metallurgical Engineering.
0-5 years of experience
in foundry design or related manufacturing industries.
Experience in automotive or heavy engineering components preferred.
