Job Description


Summary GE Gas Power Component Development Testing (CDT) team design and develop state of art rigs along with the test facilities to perform various tests for GE Gas Power, GE Vernova business. These rigs are built to test full scaled components or scaled down components and involves rotating rigs, stationary rigs, high temperature and high pressure rigs and with sophisticated instrumentation included. The success of these rigs and the tests depend on careful design considerations, proper commissioning and by adopting safer testing procedures. In the current role, the Design Engineer is responsible for designing of variety of test rigs & associated test facility systems. The candidate should closely work with the team members/ TL on design activities to ensure the quality of work. The candidate should interact with Suppliers/ manufacturers during the procurement/ manufacturing phases and ensure that the end product meets the design requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Experience on static and /or Rotating Test Rigs design and analysis
  • Test Facilities design covering piping/ support structures analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures.
  • Build the test rig models and concepts using UG/ CAD tools
  • Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Problem solving mindset, should take quick decisions to enable high say/do ratio without compromising on safety.
  • Good communication skills and explains technical information to others.
Required Qualifications
  • BE/BTech or ME degree in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline from reputed university.
  • Minimum of 3.5 years' experience in design and analysis, especially focusing on rotating equipment and/or structures/component design, turbine/compressor/rotor engineering, power plant knowledge, fluid-structure interactions, industrial machine manufacturing, instrumentation and/or multi disciplinary laboratory testing skills.
  • Working experience with design and analysis tools including ANSYS Classic, ANSYS WB, Unigraphics, other structural/ fluid analysis software.
  • Familiar with PLM and standard NPI or equivalent processes.
Desired Characteristics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Experience with CFD Application for aerodynamics and multiphase flows analysis with commercial CFD packages viz. UG, ICEMCFD, and CFX.
  • Graduate level experience in numerical methods and CFD techniques.
  • Ability to mentor early design /Facility Engineers & lab Specialists.
  • Commitment to customer, teamwork and for team success.
