To design and develop high-precision tools such as

jigs

,

fixtures

,

dies

,

gauges

, and

crimping tools

used in manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring dimensional accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

Tool Design & Development

Design precision tools including crimping applicators, forming dies, and fixtures using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.). Interpret customer drawings, product specifications, and engineering requirements to create accurate tool designs. Develop 2D/3D models, detailed drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).

Technical Analysis

Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and fitment evaluations. Select appropriate materials and surface treatments based on application requirements. Conduct DFM/DFA and cost optimization reviews.

Prototyping & Validation

Coordinate with manufacturing teams to develop and validate prototypes. Troubleshoot tool-related issues during trials and initial production runs. Implement design modifications based on testing, feedback, or failure analysis.

Documentation & Standards Compliance

Maintain technical documentation including design reports, revision logs, and inspection criteria. Ensure compliance with internal and customer-specific quality and safety standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure tool feasibility and efficient manufacturing. Participate in design reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or equivalent technical discipline. 2-5 years of experience in precision tool design. Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, AutoCAD). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including EDM, CNC machining, grinding, heat treatment, and assembly. Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
