Act as a primary technical resource for the sales team during customer engagements. Participate in customer meetings and site visits (as needed) to understand their operational challenges and automation requirements in detail. Translate complex customer problems into clear, actionable technical specifications for automation and robotics solutions. Collaborate with the sales team to prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to potential customers. Provide technical clarification and support during proposal discussions and negotiations.
Solution Design & Conceptualization:
Develop conceptual designs and layouts for automation and robotics systems, including robotic cells, automated assembly lines, material handling systems, and other industrial automation solutions. Utilize CAD software SolidWorks to create 2D and 3D layouts, detailed drawings, and simulations of proposed solutions. Select appropriate automation components, including robots, grippers, vision systems, sensors, PLCs, and other peripheral equipment, based on project requirements and industry best practices. Perform calculations and simulations to validate proposed designs, ensuring feasibility, cycle time, throughput, and performance targets are met. Conduct feasibility studies for customer requirements, evaluating technical viability, risk assessment, and potential challenges. Generate Bill of Materials (BOMs) for proposed solutions.
Costing & Proposal Contribution:
Work closely with the Sales Head and other relevant teams (e.g., Purchase, Project Management) to provide accurate input for material costing and resource efforts estimation for technical proposals. Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive technical proposals, ensuring that the proposed solution is clearly articulated, technically sound, and aligned with customer expectations. Highlight the technical benefits and value proposition of the proposed automation solutions to the customer.
Research & Development:
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automation, robotics, Industry 4.0 technologies, and relevant industry standards. Conduct research on new products, technologies, and innovative solutions that could enhance the company's offerings. Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices related to automation and robotics design.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Collaborate effectively with the sales, engineering, and project management teams to ensure seamless transition from pre-sales to project execution. Document all design concepts, calculations, technical specifications, and customer interactions related to proposed solutions. Support the creation of comprehensive handover documents to the project execution team once a sale is closed. Qualifications: BE/ B Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering & Mechatronics 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, or commissioning automation and robotics systems, preferably in an industrial setting. Proven proficiency in Solidworks for 2D/3D design, Layout, Motion Analyser, Motion Simulation & PDM. Strong understanding of industrial robots, their applications, programming concepts and safety standards. Strong understanding of Cycle Time, PPAP, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, OSHA & Ergonomic standards. Strong understanding of GD&T, DFMEA & PFMEA Conduct Stress & Force Analysis. Understanding of of PLC Logic & and HMI Screens is a significant advantage. Knowledge of machine vision systems, sensors, and other automation components. Design proficiency of Servo Slides, Gantries, Material handling systems, High speed Assembly Lines, End of line testers, Conveyors, Vision Inspection applications, Dispensing Automation, Tightening SPM, Laser Welding applications, Press Automation, Leak Testing, Robotics & Traceability. Understanding of industry-specific standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, CE, RIA). Experience in preparing technical proposals and presenting to customers. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical solutions. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment. Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
