Key Responsibilities:
Develop and design detailed CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings for aerospace and defence components using advanced design software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD).
Conduct feasibility studies and technical analysis (stress, thermal, fatigue, vibration) to ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and procurement to ensure manufacturability and compliance with design intent.
Participate in design reviews, audits, and validation processes to ensure adherence to customer specifications and industry standards (MIL-STD, AS9100, DO-178/DO-254 where applicable).
Prepare technical documentation including BOMs, assembly instructions, design reports, and change requests.
Apply design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for reliability principles in all development stages.
Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
Keep updated with latest industry trends, materials, processes, and standards in aerospace and defence design engineering.
Work with suppliers and vendors for sourcing and validation of custom components and materials.
Ensure all designs comply with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
Proven experience (3+ years preferred) in design engineering within aerospace, defence, or highly regulated industries.
Proficient in 3D CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes (forging, casting, composites, additive manufacturing), and assembly techniques.
Knowledge of industry standards such as AS9100, MIL-STD, NADCAP, and aerospace certification requirements.
Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN) and simulation software is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects with strict deadlines and dynamic priorities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with systems engineering and integration.
Knowledge of software design standards DO-178C or hardware design standards DO-254 (for avionics-related roles).
Familiarity with Project Management tools and practices.
Exposure to Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
