Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified powertrains, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.
As an Electric Motor design analyst for the ePowertrain components, you will be joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of electrification. Your role will be responsible for conduct electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical analysis of motor / generator designs, modelling and design for advanced traction motors and generators to achieve performance requirements., working directly on the cutting-edge electric drivetrain and power electronics projects. The electric powertrain team is part of the E+ES organization and is responsible for end-to-end design and development of on delivering high quality electric drive for the organization.
You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a highly experienced team of engineers who have significant experience across Caterpillar electric drive and stationary power conversion applications.
Roles and Responsibilities

• Conduct electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical simulations for motor/generator components.
• Develop and maintain detailed models to support design optimization and performance validation.
• Define thermal system architecture and integrate with electrical systems.
• Perform NVH, structural, and CFD analyses across voltage ranges and cooling topologies.
• Support NPI, NTI, CPI, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Contribute to global VPD strategies and drive process automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support HV lab testing and model correlation.

Required Qualification:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Strong background in multiphysics modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, AMESim, GT Suite, Ansys FLUENT).
• Experience in motor/generator design, power electronics modeling, and system-level analysis.
• Familiarity with CREO and drawing detailing for electric drivetrain components.
• Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment.

Desired Qualification:

• Experience in EV OEMs or Tier 1 EV suppliers.
• Hands-on involvement in product launch cycles.
• Expertise in DFMEA, DVP&R, and reliability engineering.

• Generates specifications for parts or components with CAD software.
• Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures.
• Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects.
• Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.
• Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.

Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
Level Working Knowledge:

• Participates in the conception process of a manufacturing product vision.
• Collects and analyzes customer and market requirements, and generates reports.
• Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new design model.
• Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
• Assists in the testing and refinement of a new product design.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Level Working Knowledge:

• Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
• Communicates with professionals to understand various requirements of product design.
• Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
• Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
• Assists in building a complex prototype of product.

Additional Information: This job required 5days working from office.
Relocation is available for this position.
