Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical layouts for cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and interconnect systems based on project specifications. Create detailed

2D

and

3D CAD

models, drawings, and assemblies using tools such as

SolidWorks

or

AutoCAD

. Select suitable connectors, backshells, and mechanical components in coordination with the electrical design team. Incorporate considerations for routing, strain relief, shielding, and environmental protection in designs. Ensure design compliance with relevant

Defense and Aerospace standards

(e.g., MILDTL, IPC/WHMA-A-620). Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Electrical Engineering teams to resolve design or assembly challenges. Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities. Prepare and maintain design documentation including BOMs, revision histories, and engineering change records. Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and standardization. Desired Skills & Attributes 2-4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within cable assembly, interconnect, or electro-mechanical systems. Proficiency in

CAD software

such as

SolidWorks, AutoCAD,

or equivalent. Basic understanding of electrical connectivity and cable integration principles. Familiarity with MIL-spec connectors, backshells, and Aerospace/Defense standards. Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and design quality. Effective collaboration skills and ability to work across engineering functions. o Problem-solving mindset with focus on manufacturability and reliability. Willingness to learn and adapt to advanced design tools and industry requirements.
