Job Description

Design shredders, balers, conveyors, hoppers, and mechanical systems as per project requirements. Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Inventor). Design mechanical components including shafts, gears, blades/cutters, housings, frames, hydraulic systems, etc. Optimize designs for strength, durability, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability. Perform load calculations, torque, power requirements, structural analysis, and safety factor calculations. Select appropriate bearings, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, valves, pumps, and other mechanical components. Design for vibration control, alignment, noise reduction, and machine efficiency. Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing and assembly teams. Create fabrication drawings, assembly manuals, and change notes. Maintain version control and engineering change management. Support production team during prototype manufacturing, assembly, and testing. Resolve design-related issues observed during fabrication or field installation. Work closely with service team to improve machine reliability based on customer feedback. Ensure designs meet safety standards and industrial guidelines. Conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) for new models. Improve machine robustness, ease of maintenance, and operational safety. Develop new models of shredders & balers with improved throughput and efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of machine design, sheet metal, structural design, and mechanical systems. Hands-on experience with shredders, balers, recycling machinery, or heavy industrial equipment (preferred). Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools. Understanding of hydraulic systems, cutting mechanisms, bearings, drive systems, and fabrication. Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, GD&T, welding symbols, and tolerances. Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.

Qualification & Experience

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 2-5 years of experience in machine design, especially in shredders, balers, recycling equipment, or industrial machinery. Introduce cost-effective design enhancements without compromising quality. Evaluate latest technologies, materials, and engineering trends for product improvement.
