Role Definition
Provide Engineering support for manufacturing of Large Power Systems Products (Reciprocating Engines & Gensets) to ensure effective Built in Quality and resolve technical issues related to Engine design, performance and emissions
Responsibilities

  • Engineering support for operations team during introduction and regular production of engines and gensets
  • Provide rapid engineering response to resolve shop floor issues related to engine assembly, hot testing, engine performance and emissions.
  • Requires knowledge of engine calibration and testing procedures, Engine communication protocols and flash files
  • Lead engineering efforts and communication to resolve Built in Quality issues. Document and review issues with appropriate stakeholders, work with cross functional teams to implement Interim and Permanent corrective actions (ICA/PCA). Work with design and platform team to build consensus and decision on deviations and design change requests.
  • Participate in the design processes to ensure products meet high performance, durability, quality, and serviceability standards
  • Assist in preparing proposals, cost estimates and technical reports
  • Understanding and adhering to project schedule. Prepare and execute project plan for own deliverables to meet NPI timeline.
  • Support CQMS, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 documentation and audits. Be available outside of normal business hours to collaborate with global teams
  • Requires a degree in an accredited Mechanical / Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent, experience working in Power Systems (Reciprocating Engines / Genset) Product Development / Factory Support
  • Knowledge of assembly processes related to engines and gensets, and issue resolution within manufacturing operations will be added advantage.
  • Requires working knowledge of ProE, Teamcenter, and other design / BOM management tools, New Product Introduction process
  • Requires knowledge of engineering documents like FMEA, DVP, DFM and different tools used in Root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, Tolerance Stack-up and APQP process will be added advantage.
  • Requires Proficient communication skills

  • Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects.
  • Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.
  • Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.
Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
Level Working Knowledge:
  • Participates in the conception process of a manufacturing product vision.
  • Collects and analyzes customer and market requirements, and generates reports.
  • Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new design model.
  • Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
  • Assists in the testing and refinement of a new product design.
Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Level Working Knowledge:
  • Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
  • Communicates with professionals to understand various requirements of product design.
  • Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
  • Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
  • Assists in building a complex prototype of product.
