to design, develop, and support electrical control systems for automated equipment and industrial processes. This role is hands-on and project-driven, working closely with mechanical engineers, software/PLC engineers, and production teams from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Design electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for automation systems
Select electrical components (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, safety devices, sensors, power supplies)
Develop I/O lists, electrical BOMs, and cable schedules
Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (UL, NFPA 79, IEC, CE, etc.)
Support panel fabrication, machine wiring, and system integration
Collaborate with controls/software engineers during PLC and HMI development
Assist with system testing, debugging, and on-site commissioning as needed
Provide technical documentation and support for customers and internal teams
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field
4+years of experience in electrical design for industrial automation or machinery
Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar)
Strong understanding of industrial control systems and power distribution
Familiarity with PLC-based automation systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with safety systems and functional safety standards
Exposure to multiple PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)
Knowledge of servo motion systems and VFDs
UL 508A panel design experience
Experience supporting installations or commissioning in the field
