The Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. The role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to translate concepts into precise engineering designs that support manufacturing, installation, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Design
Prepare detailed electrical drawings including SLDs, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, panel layouts, and control schematics.
Create GA drawings and fabrication drawings for control panels, junction boxes, and instrumentation layouts.
Interpret electrical standards, customer specifications, and engineering inputs to produce accurate designs.
Mechanical Design
Develop mechanical 2D and 3D models, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
Design enclosures, mechanical structures, panel cabinets, brackets, and related components.
Ensure drawings follow correct tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturability guidelines.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
Collaborate with project engineers, production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure drawing accuracy and feasibility.
Update drawings as per revision changes, engineering feedback, or customer comments.
Maintain drawing libraries, templates, and CAD standards within the organization.
Support engineering and production teams with technical documentation.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (IEC, ISO, ANSI, etc.).
Required Skills & Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering fields.
1-2 years of experience in drafting or design using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and industrial standards.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
Proficiency in 2D drafting (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling (SolidWorks).
Good communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy in drawings.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automation, control panels, machinery design, or fabrication industries.
Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing practices such as sheet metal, machining, and assembly.
Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or document control systems.
