Design & Application Engineer - Diesel Generator Set (Data Center Projects)



Role Summary



The Design & Application Engineer will be part of Global Proposal Engineering team and will be responsible for the design, customization, integration of diesel generator sets for large-scale data center backup power systems. The role covers the project cycle--from technical proposal stage to project execution documentation support--ensuring designs meet

Tier III/Tier IV data center uptime standards

, regulatory compliance, and client-specification and tender requirements.

Key Responsibilities



1. Design & Engineering



Select and configure

diesel engines, alternators, control panels, and switchgear

to meet site-specific project requirements. Design

cooling, ventilation system, electrical systems, exhaust, fuel, and acoustic systems

for high reliability and low environmental impact. Proficient in Noise, ventilation and structural calculations. Develop

detailed 2D/3D CAD Product Designs and generator set installation layouts, wiring diagrams, and mechanical schematics

for genset, site installation and integration. Evaluate

site-specific conditions

(climate, altitude, space, seismic zone) for optimal genset application. Implement

noise, vibration, and emissions control solutions

in compliance with local rules of site of Installation. Understanding of requirements as per local norms. Knowledge of electro-mechanical protection systems.

2. Tender & Documentation



Review and interpret

tender technical specifications

to prepare compliant technical submissions. Prepare

Bill of Quantity (BoQ)

for genset supply, accessories, control systems, and installation materials. Ensure all proposed equipment meets

client specifications

and

international standards

. Support proposal teams with

technical clarifications

during tender stages.

3. Compliance & Standards



Ensure design compliance with:

Local Emission norms in the country of installation

NFPA 110

(Emergency and Standby Power Systems)

ISO 8528

(Reciprocating internal combustion engine-driven alternating current generating sets)

BS 5514 / ISO 3046

(Engine performance standards)

IEC 60034

(Rotating electrical machines)

IEEE 446

(Emergency and Standby Power)

Uptime Institute Tier Standards

Maintain knowledge of

global genset standards

for multi-country project delivery.

Key Skills & Competencies



Proficiency in

BoQ development

and

tender technical specification analysis

. In-depth understanding of

diesel engine performance, alternator selection, and controls

. Knowledge of

global genset-related standards

and compliance frameworks. Skilled in

AutoCAD/Creo

or equivalent for mechanical/electrical design. Familiarity with

data center MEP systems, redundancy topologies, and UPS integration

. Strong analytical and documentation skills.

Qualifications



Bachelor's Degree

in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Engineering 5-10 years of experience in

diesel genset design/application engineering

.
Job Type: Permanent

Pay: ₹410,622.20 - ₹1,139,204.00 per year
