The Deputy Nursing Superintendent assists the Nursing Superintendent in planning, organizing, and supervising all nursing services to ensure high-quality patient care, compliance with healthcare standards, and efficient utilization of nursing resources.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Administration & Supervision
Assist in the overall management of nursing services and act as the Nursing Superintendent in her absence.
Supervise and monitor the performance of Nursing Officers, Ward In-Charges, and other nursing staff.
Ensure adequate staffing and deployment based on workload and patient acuity.
Maintain discipline, punctuality, and professional behavior among nursing staff.
2. Quality & Patient Care
Ensure delivery of safe, ethical, and high-quality nursing care in all departments.
Monitor infection control practices and adherence to hospital protocols.
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction standards are maintained.
Participate in audits, quality checks, and accreditation processes (NABH/JCI, etc.).
3. Training & Development
Identify training needs and coordinate in-service education programs for nurses.
Mentor and guide nursing staff for professional growth and skill enhancement.
Participate in orientation programs for new recruits and student nurses.
4. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with medical, administrative, and support departments for smooth hospital operations.
Handle grievances, conflicts, and staff welfare concerns.
Maintain effective communication between management and nursing staff.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain nursing records, reports, and statistics accurately and timely.
Ensure compliance with all hospital and statutory documentation requirements.
Assist in preparation of departmental budgets, equipment procurement, and resource planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
Minimum
10-15 years of nursing experience
Registration with State Nursing Council is mandatory.
