Job Summary:
The Deputy Manager - Purchase will be a key member of the Supply Chain Management team, responsible for sourcing raw materials, packaging materials, and engineering spares. The role involves vendor management, procurement planning, and ensuring statutory compliance for both local and international procurement activities. This position requires strong negotiation skills, leadership capability, and experience in SCM within the chemical or related industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead sourcing of raw materials, packaging materials, and engineering spares at competitive rates.
Manage and mentor a small team of 3 to 5 members.
Handle import and clearance processes and ensure compliance with statutory norms.
Develop and maintain vendor relationships, evaluate suppliers, and implement alternate sourcing strategies.
Plan and forecast material requirements in coordination with production and planning teams.
Ensure timely material delivery and resolve vendor-related issues.
Work closely with QA and technical teams for vendor and material development.
Ensure compliance with ISO TS and IATF standards.
Contribute to budgeting and policy guidelines for purchasing raw materials and packaging materials.
Track and analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (B.E. Chemical / B.Sc. / M.Sc. Chemistry) from a reputed institute.
16 to 18 years of professional experience in supply chain management, preferably in Chemicals, Lubricants, Grease, or Speciality Oils.
Strong negotiation, planning, and leadership skills.
Good understanding of local and international statutory requirements and quality standards.
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of material planning, procurement forecasting, and supplier rating.
