The Deputy Manager will be responsible for assisting the program manager in the coordination and implementation of all the environment-related projects, with special focus on renewable energy management-related projects (projects including: Solar installation in Schools, community building, and HH, promotion of smokeless stoves, wind energy, bio energy and other renewable energies projects, etc.)
Job Responsibilities:
Execute environmental projects, campaigns, and corporate employee engagement activities.
Design, develop concept notes, innovate, facilitate, and implement environmental projects, with a special focus on renewable energy management. This includes initiatives such as solar installations in schools, community buildings, and households; promotion of smokeless stoves; and projects involving wind, bio, and other renewable energy sources.
Establish and maintain partnerships with schools, colleges, community groups, corporations, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders for mass awareness events and volunteer mobilization.
Manage partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies (e.g., municipal corporations, forest departments, education departments, Panchayat and Gramin Vikas Vibhag), academic institutions, NGOs, and citizens' groups, as well as other suitable national and international forums. This is essential for smooth project execution and to further United Way Mumbai's vision for environmental conservation.
Ensure effective communication and partnership development/management with various program stakeholders and partners for successful project implementation.
Contribute to the development and adoption of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework for the projects.
Conduct continuous research on issues addressed by United Way Mumbai and provide relevant inputs for the development, conceptualization, and execution of projects.
Develop appropriate IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials to support project themes, including solar installations in schools, community buildings, and households; promotion of smokeless stoves; and initiatives involving wind, bio, and other renewable energies.
Prepare reports, presentations, mailers, advisories, donor reports, social media posts, awareness materials, concept notes, proposals, and other communications on various environmental themes.
Manage, train, and mentor project teams to ensure efficient execution and capacity building.
Oversee planning, execution, and documentation of environmental project activities, ensuring their timely and effective completion. This includes managing budgeting, financial reconciliation, and reporting of project activities.
Undertake extensive fieldwork in the outskirts of Mumbai and other project locations across India for monitoring visits and project execution, as required.
Represent the organization at external meetings, workshops, and conferences related to renewable energies.
Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations and international best practices in renewable energy.
Profile Requisites:
Postgraduate in Science, Environmental Science/ Environmental/Mechanical/Agricultural Engineering, or having studies in Sustainability and Renewable Energies or any other equivalent degree. A candidate with prior experience in the Renewable Energies sector would be preferred.
At least 5 to 6 years of experience in managing and executing projects in the field of the environment
A dynamic and versatile person who can easily connect and effectively work with internal and external stakeholders of the project
Good knowledge on the various environmental issues and related interventions
Excellent MS office skills i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Adequate knowledge and understanding about the field of Pollution/waste management and be able to provide relevant inputs for successful execution of the project activities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be proficient in communicating in English and Hindi (fluency in Marathi will be an added advantage)
Candidate must be a team player and should be willing to travel in and around Mumbai and other project locations across India for implementing program activities.

Remuneration:
Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the salary range is 8 LPA to 12.4 LPA.
