Delivery Engineer - Assurance (UAA)


Role Summary


Reporting to Director, Delivery Architecture as a Blue Planet Delivery Engineer, you will play a key post-sales technical role focused on assisting customers use the product as well as design and deliver solutions for Blue Planet product/portfolio.


You will interact with customers daily, working on production and deployment issues and providing feedback to the development teams to help resolve issues quickly. You will use your monitoring and debugging skills to collect all the needed logs with minimal access and help provide the same to concerned department for resolution. You will bring customer feedback to the Account/PLM/R&D communities to help improve product functionality in future releases. You will provide weekly updates on the execution and status of projects. You will ensure overall customer deployment plans and timelines are driven to success and any limiting issues are successfully driven through the Ciena/Blue Planet teams

Common Tasks


This position requires significant knowledge and professionalism gained from years of OSS domain (Assurance, Order Orchestration, Inventory, Provisioning, NFV, MSO, etc) delivery and implementation experience. Tasks include providing Delivery and Implementation Product implementation, configuration, extensions and integrations. Professional Services best practice expertise and Telecommunications experience with clients, the Professional Services practice and the greater Ciena/Blue Planet organization.


Provide delivery services both as an individual and as a team member. Has subject matter knowledge of relevant implementation responsibility. Has database, core applications and web technology knowledge. Has specific experience in implementing systems integrations.

Core:

Articulates project objectives. Actively drive or participate in the following SDLC components: Business Analysis Requirements Gathering Design Development Testing Data Migration Deployment Support Experience in the following: Operating systems: Linux/Unix Kubernetes Languages: JAVA, Python, Shell Scripting Database(s): PostgreSQL, Neo4j, Clickhouse etc Deployment environment: Kubernetes, Docker, microservices Deployment experience in cloud-based environment AWS/Azure. Knowledge of SQL an advantage Exposure to Apache Kafka stream processing platform Monitoring tools like Nagios, Grafana SNMP, Syslog, ICMP, SSH and retrieval REST APIs Develops system and process requirements. Map OSS software capabilities to those needs and build consensus around the solution. Proposes technical solutions to system requirements. Identifies key project participants and secures buy-in. Coordinates with regional/global teams on project objectives. Develops and distributes project related documentation. Provides oversight on assigned component tasks. Develops applicable process and system change documentation. Documents project task results.

Technical:

Seasoned working knowledge of Blue Planet's products and services. Languages: Perl, Python, HTML, Java, Angular, Yang Experience supporting mission critical highly available (HA) systems. Source Control (svn, github) and Ticketing systems (JIRA, salesforce, other). Project methodologies (Agile, Feature Driven Design, Waterfall, Iterative) Familiarity with networking concepts and technologies such as 4G/5G Mobility, VNF/CNF, IP/MPLS, Ethernet, Optical Transmission, SD-WAN, Network Orchestration, Network Analytics (AI/ML, Anomaly Detection, etc), Fault/Performance/SLA Management. Experience working with and presenting technical solutions to engineering organizations Excellent knowledge of user-centered requirements for network assurance solutions.

Qualifications


Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or a related field. Extensive experience working with network assurance systems for global enterprises or network service providers Proven experience within a Professional Services organization, with demonstrated people and thought leadership experience & consultancy skills. Deep understanding of Telecom Network technologies (DWDM, Ethernet, IP etc.), design and architectures, with broad end to end view across OSS and BSS technologies and ecosystems including associated technologies such as service assurance/analytics, SDN/NFV and cloud infrastructure, service orchestration & OSS automation, mediation, billing & charging, IoT and service exposure. Knowledge of the Telco OSS ecosystem products such as Ciena Blue Planet or other vendors like Amdocs, Ericsson, Netcracker, etc. Strong written and oral English communication skills. * Ability to travel as required.
