The Dean of Fine Arts is responsible for providing strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to the Faculty of Fine Arts. The role ensures excellence in teaching, research, creative practice, student development, faculty management, and industry engagement across all Fine Arts disciplines, including Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts, Graphics, Animation, Performing Arts, and Design.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Academic Leadership
Develop and implement academic policies, curricula, and innovative teaching methodologies.
Ensure continuous improvement of programs through periodic reviews.
Introduce new courses aligned with industry trends and creative technologies.
Promote interdisciplinary learning across university departments.
B. Faculty Management
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members.
Drive faculty development through workshops, seminars, and FDPs.
Assign workload, timetable, and responsibilities for optimal output.
Ensure compliance with university and statutory standards (UGC/NAAC/NBA).
C. Research & Creative Practice
Promote a strong culture of research, exhibitions, publications, and creative output.
Support faculty and students in obtaining grants and scholarships.
Facilitate national and international collaborations with institutions, galleries, museums, and industry partners.
D. Student Development
Oversee admission processes, student orientation, and academic counseling.
Ensure holistic development through studios, workshops, exhibitions, portfolios, and competitions.
Address student grievances, discipline, and academic progression.
E. Administrative Duties
Prepare annual budgets, academic calendars, and institutional reports.
Oversee infrastructure development: studios, labs, workshops, galleries, and equipment.
Ensure proper documentation for NAAC, IQAC, and accreditation bodies.
Lead departmental meetings and represent the faculty at university forums.
F. Industry & Community Engagement
Build partnerships with art councils, galleries, design studios, cultural bodies, NGOs, and corporates.
Organize exhibitions, art festivals, seminars, and outreach programs.
Facilitate internships, placements, and guest lectures.
3. Qualifications & Experience
PhD in Fine Arts / Visual Arts / Design or related field (preferred).
Master's degree in Fine Arts or equivalent (mandatory).
Minimum
10-15 years of academic/industry experience
with
proven leadership
in Fine Arts education.
Strong portfolio of artistic work, research publications, exhibitions, or creative achievements.
Experience in curriculum design, accreditation, academic administration, and team leadership.
