Position Overview:
The Dean - School of Biotechnology will serve as the academic and administrative head of the School, providing leadership in teaching, research, innovation, and strategic growth. The role requires a visionary academic leader who can strengthen the university's reputation in biotechnology education and research, foster industry partnerships, and drive excellence in student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:Academic Leadership
Provide strategic direction for the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Biotechnology and related disciplines.
Ensure high academic standards through curriculum enhancement, program review, and accreditation compliance (NAAC, NBA, etc.).
Promote interdisciplinary learning and collaboration with other schools and departments within the university.
Research & Innovation
Establish a strong research ecosystem through funded projects, patents, and publications in reputed journals.
Identify and secure national and international research grants and collaborations.
Encourage faculty and students to undertake applied and translational research aligned with industry and societal needs.
Faculty & Student Development
Lead the recruitment, mentoring, and performance evaluation of faculty members.
Promote continuous professional development and encourage faculty participation in conferences, training, and research networks.
Enhance student learning experience through innovative pedagogy, research exposure, internships, and career guidance initiatives.
Industry & Academic Collaborations
Build partnerships with leading biotech industries, research institutions, and international universities for academic and research exchange programs.
Develop consultancy, incubation, and skill-development initiatives in collaboration with industry experts.
Facilitate campus placements, internships, and industrial training opportunities for students.
Strategic & Administrative Management
Prepare annual budgets, manage resources, and ensure efficient school operations.
Contribute to institutional strategic planning and policy development.
Represent the School in academic councils, committees, and external forums.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 20 years of academic and research experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or administrative role (Head of Department / Dean / Director level).
Proven record of scholarly publications, funded research projects, and academic leadership.
Experience in managing accreditation, curriculum design, and academic partnerships.
