What you'll do:



Role Overview




The DC-DR (Data Center - Disaster Recovery) Drill Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and validating Disaster Recovery readiness across critical infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity layers. The role ensures that business-critical systems can be restored within defined RTO/RPO and that DR processes remain compliant, documented, and continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities



1. DC-DR Planning & Coordination



Develop the DR drill schedule and coordinate with application owners, infra teams, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders. Review DR runbooks, recovery procedures, and architecture prior to execution. Validate dependencies, network paths, storage mappings, backup availability, and replication status.

2. Execution of DR Drills



Perform end-to-end DR failover and fallback activities (planned/unplanned drills). Execute recovery steps for servers, databases, applications, network, and storage components. Validate replication health (e.g., SRDF, SnapMirror, Zerto, Veeam, HPE RMC / HPE Storage Replication). Troubleshoot DR-related failures during the drill.

3. Monitoring & Validation



Check application functionality post-recovery in DR site. Validate RTO/RPO compliance and capture deviations. Ensure logs, dashboards, and DR evidence are captured as per audit/compliance needs.

4. Documentation & Reporting



Update DR runbooks, SOPs, test scripts, and evidence documents. Prepare DR drill reports -- Summary, Gaps, Recommendations, Lessons Learned. Maintain DR readiness metrics and improvement trackers.

5. Continuous Improvement



Identify DR gaps, risks, configuration issues, and propose corrective actions. Work with Infra/Network/Security teams to fix issues before the next drill. Enhance automation and repeatability for DR testing.

What you need to bring:



Technical Skills



Strong understanding of DC & DR concepts: RTO, RPO, failover, fallback, replication, backup strategy. Hands-on experience with

at least one

of the following: + Storage replications: HPE 3PAR/Primera/Nimble, NetApp, Dell EMC
+ Virtualization & Compute: VMware, Hyper-V, KVM
+ Backup tools: Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, Data Protector
+ Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL (basic recovery steps)
+ Networking basics: DNS, Load Balancer, VLANs, routing failover
Basic understanding of Cybersecurity controls during DR (IAM, access, vaulting, secure restore).

Soft Skills



Strong coordination and stakeholder management. Ability to create clear documentation and reports. Troubleshooting mindset and ability to handle high-pressure scenarios. Flexible to work during planned drills (weekend/night).

Qualification



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering. 2-5 years of relevant experience in DC-DR, IT Infrastructure, Storage, Backup, or Systems Operations.
