Essential Job Functions:

• Manage and maintain DB2, Informix, and MS-SQL databases.
• Perform routine maintenance, backups, and recovery.
• Monitor performance and optimize queries.
• Implement security and access controls.
• Support database upgrades and patching.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in DBA roles.
• Strong expertise in Informix and DB2 or MSSQL.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization.
• Familiarity with data migration and ETL processes.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Informix DBA Requirements

• Installation & Configuration: Expertise in installing, configuring, upgrading, and patching various versions of Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) on Unix/Linux platforms (e.g., AIX, Solaris, Red Hat).
• Database Objects Management: Proficiency in managing storage structures, including chunks, dbspaces, blobs, and extendable storage.
• Backup and Recovery: Expertise in implementing and managing backup strategies using native utilities like onbar, ontape, or third-party tools (e.g., TSM). Must be able to perform Point-in-Time Recovery.
• High Availability (HA) & DR: Experience configuring and managing Informix replication technologies, including HDR, SDS, and RS.
• Performance Tuning (PTO): Monitoring and troubleshooting engine performance using Informix tools like onstat. Optimizing queries, analyzing query plans, and managing data statistics.
• Security: Managing user permissions, roles, and ensuring data security and compliance within the Informix environment.
• SQL Proficiency: Strong command of Informix SQL and Stored Procedure Language (SPL).
• System Monitoring: Experience with Informix administration utilities such as onmonitor, oncheck, onmode, and third-party monitoring solutions.
• Operating System: Strong proficiency with Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash, Korn shell) for automation, scheduling, and log analysis.
• Automation: Using utilities and scripting to automate routine tasks like backups, cleanups, and space management.
• Troubleshooting: Ability to analyze log files (e.g., online.log) and core dumps to quickly diagnose and resolve complex engine issues.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills for coordinating with application development teams, system administrators, and business stakeholders, especially during outages or complex upgrades.
• On-Call Support: Readiness to provide 24/7 on-call support for critical production environments.
• Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear documentation for system architecture, procedures, and runbooks
