Job Title: DB2 Azure Migration SME
Experience: 8+
Mode of Hire: Contract
Azure DB2 Data Migration SME to lead and drive cloud DB2 data migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing data migration strategies from on-premises and other cloud environments to Microsoft Azure. This role requires deep expertise in DB2 Database migration and cloud data governance.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data migration projects, ensuring seamless transition to Azure with minimal disruption.
• Migration and HADR experience specifically on DB2 and SAP environments from on-prem to Azure. Strong hands-on expertise in RHEL + DB2
• Migrate and support DB2 database systems ensuring seamless data transfer
• Experience with DB2 and SAP migration to Azure, with tools like Azure Site Recovery, Azure Database Migration Service, SWPM, and Azure Migrate
• Assess existing on-premises or cloud data landscapes and develop migration strategies aligned with business goals.
• Migrate structured and unstructured data from DB2 and other data sources to Azure.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DBAs, data engineers, cloud architects, and security teams, to ensure a successful migration.
• Perform data validation and reconciliation post-migration to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Address performance bottlenecks and implement best practices for Azure database performance tuning.
• Provide technical expertise on Azure Data Governance, security best practices, and compliance frameworks.
• Document migration strategies, challenges, and solutions for knowledge sharing and future scalability.
• Stay up to date with the latest Azure data technologies and recommend improvements for cloud data architectures.

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or cloud data solutions, with at least 3+ years focused on Azure DB2 data migration.
• Strong understanding of database architectures, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Azure Migrate, Data Migration Assistant (DMA), and DB2 third-party data migration tools.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, hybrid data connectivity, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with data governance, GDPR, HIPAA, and other compliance standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot migration challenges and ensure business continuity.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor teams.
