The Role: Database Engineer / Database Administrator

Data Solutions Engineering (DSE) is a global database technology team to foster innovation, accelerate focuses on building modern cloud native frameworks and platforms while offering employees the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

DSE team is responsible for the development of database framework and data platforms that power the cloud native development of mission-critical applications and platform services at S&P Global Market Intelligence. We aim to simplify the complex data problems and challenges by offering a framework that offers solutions for Resilience, Observability and many more. A key success measure is to decrease the number of decisions that a database engineer is required to make without necessarily losing flexibility and don\'t repeat yourself (DRY) principles and optimizing overall database development and maintenance cost.

Responsibilities:

Database Engineering/Administration

Learn, design and implement technical solutions.

Develop products using technologies that are scalable and resilient.

Solve complex data engineering problems.

Develop products using Cloud Native technologies.

Develop products that provide best Customer Experience.

Develop libraries, frameworks and platforms that handle our core functionality and business needs.

Build new features, maintaining high code quality via tests/code reviews/metrics.

Learn new tools and technologies from the Java community, Spring, Apache, and others.

Build proof of concept and come up with recommendations to integrate into our product.

Implement code quality and ship solutions to provide value to our business.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, our business, and engineers to define product vision and objectives.

Support continuous improvement, investigating alternatives and technologies, and presenting for architectural review

What We\'re Looking For: We need talented, passionate team members who can help us solve the Workflow and Analytical problems and develop products and tools that provide best customer experience using the latest technologies in Data Engineering.

Basic Qualifications:

Final year students who are working towards a B.Tech (CS/ IT/AI/ML) degree in Computer Science and Information Technology

Knowledge in any of database concepts, SQL/PL-SQL, writing queries and RDBMS & NOSQL

Knowledge in programming using Python/C#/Java or other languages and oops concepts.

Ability to document requirements and specifications.

Good communication skills and ability to produce clear, concise, and detailed documentation.

Excellent problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.

Willing to work in 24*7 environment on rotational shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows OS, Networking, 3-tier applications

Basic knowledge of any one of database technologies (e.g. Postgres, Oracle, SQL, SOLR, ELK, Cassandra)

Basic knowledge of Cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google) will be added advantage

Basic knowledge of any scripting language (e.g. Powershell or Ansible or Java script)

Basic knowledge of Github will be of advantage.
