Database Developer & Specialist - India

Context and Purpose of the Job

RioMed is a leading clinical software company headquarters based in the UK. Our core business function is developing and delivering clinical applications. We provide customised solutions to meet the specific requirements of healthcare professionals. Our mission is to improve healthcare at the point of delivery through patient participation and real time data capture.


RioMed has been delivering clinical solutions nationally and internationally since 1997, in a variety of communicable and non-communicable disease areas including, HIV, Sexually transmitted disease, Osteoporosis, Elderly Care, Rheumatology, Cardiology and Diabetes.

Main Responsibilities

-------------------------

Design and develop MySQL database objects. Optimize SQL queries. Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices. Gather user requirements and identify new features. Technically guide group of developers. To assist with various aspects of Information Security, including; reviewing documentation, and helping to conduct an audit Modify databases according to requests and perform tests Solve database usage issues and malfunctions Develop technical and training manuals Provide data management support to users. Python implementation for Database Task automation.

Person Requirements

Essential

Minimum 2+ years of proven experience as a MySQL Database Developer. Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, and optimization techniques. Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries to meet diverse client requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical details clearly. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline. Working knowledge of Python scripting for automation or data handling. Willingness to engage in research and continuous learning to improve database performance and reliability.

Preferred

Hands-on experience with MySQL 8.x and advanced features such as CTEs, window functions, and performance schema. Experience with database monitoring and performance tools such as Idera, MySQL Enterprise Monitor, or equivalent. Familiarity with Docker for database containerization and deployment. Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and data migration between heterogeneous systems. Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, replication setup, and archiving mechanisms. Exposure to Linux environments and shell scripting.
Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives.
