Role description

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments. Design and implement database architectures, replication, sharding, and clustering strategies for scalability and performance. Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations with minimal downtime. Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions. Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies. Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Support application teams with database design, query optimization, and schema management. Automate routine tasks using scripting tools (Shell, Python, Ansible, etc.). Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide on-call production support as required. Maintain documentation for database configurations, standards, and procedures.

Skills & Experience:

MongoDB:

Installation, configuration, replication, sharding, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and schema optimization; experience with Atlas and Ops Manager.

PostgreSQL:

Strong in setup, replication, partitioning, query tuning, backup/recovery (pg_dump, pgBackRest), and performance monitoring (pg_stat_statements, Grafana).

Oracle (Secondary):

Hands-on with administration, RMAN, Data Guard, patching, and SQL tuning.

Cross-DB Skills:

Proficient in SQL, PL/pgSQL, scripting (Shell/Python), and database automation. Strong understanding of security, user access, capacity planning, and HA/DR strategies. Exposure to cloud DB services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure PostgreSQL, GCP SQL) and monitoring tools. Experience in 24x7 production environments with strong troubleshooting and optimization skills.
