Job Description

Responsibilities:

The DBA will build/patch/upgrade/migrate MSSQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL & MySQL, databases hosted in AWS environments such as Amazon RDS, Amazon EC2, and Amazon Aurora. The role requires expertise in database patching, database build, database upgrade, database migration, database automation and cloud-based best practices. The DBA will collaborate closely with architects, developers, system administrators, and DevOps teams to ensure efficient database migration with less downtime.

Database Management & Maintenance

Design, build and configure new database environments in compliance with organizational standards. Plan and execute patching, version upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime. Manage cross version and cross platform migrations Administer and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS and Amazon EC2. Configure and manage multi-AZ deployments, Read Replicas, and Data Guard (for Oracle) to ensure high availability. Manage SQL Server Always On configurations for improved failover and availability. Identify bottlenecks in queries, indexes, execution plans and overall database design

Automation & Process Improvements

Develop automation frameworks and pipelines for patching, upgrades and migrations using scripting (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraforms). Create and maintain automated health checks, backup/restore and validation routines. Contribute to infrastructure as code adoption for database provisioning and configuration.

Backup & Recovery

Design and implement automated backup strategies using AWS Backup and RDS Automated Snapshots. Develop and test disaster recovery plans.

Monitoring & Alerting

Configure proactive alerts for performance issues, storage limits, and availability risks using CloudWatch and AWS SNS.

Documentation

Document database architectures, configurations, backup strategies, and recovery plans. Maintain detailed documentation of build procedures, patch plans and automation workflows.

What We're Looking For:

o Strong expertise in SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 (AOAG/DAG/FCI), Oracle 12c/19c, Postgres 12/13/14/15/16, & MySQL 8.0/8.4Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS, EC2-hosted databases, and AWS migration tools like AWS DMS. Familiarity with cloud automation tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Python. Strong understanding of database security, auditing, and encryption best practices. Experience in PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, PGSQL 16+ years of experience as DBA managing SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres and MySQL. * Experience with AWS database upgrades, patch & migration strategies.
