Position: Database Administrator
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic and innovative team. As a DBA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation, performance, security, and scalability of our applications' databases.
Job Responsibilities:
Database Management
Install, configure, maintain, and optimize Aurora databases (PostgreSQL & MySQL) for the applications.
Install, configure, maintain, and optimize NoSQL databases (i.e ElasticSearch & AWS OpenSearch) for the applications.
Implement efficient database schema design principles for optimal data storage and retrieval.
Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Monitor database performance metrics and identify potential bottlenecks for optimization.
Automate database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
Security & Compliance
Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive user data (PII) and financial transactions.
Manage user access controls and permissions to the databases.
Stay informed about the latest database security threats and implement necessary mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Performance Optimization
Perform regular database performance analysis and identify areas for improvement.
Implement database tuning techniques (indexing, query optimization) to enhance query speed and overall platform responsiveness.
Work with developers to optimize application code for efficient database interactions.
Monitor resource utilization and scale database infrastructure as needed.
Change Management
Participate in the planning and execution of database schema changes and database migrations.
Ensure effective communication with developers and other stakeholders during database changes.
Test and document database changes thoroughly to minimize disruptions.
Reporting & Analytics
Generate reports on database performance, resource utilization, and user activity.
Support data analysis and reporting needs for other departments (e.g., Development, Marketing, Finance).
Utilize SQL queries to extract relevant data from the databases for analysis.
Required Skills :
Proven experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL & Elasticsearch/Solr database administration
Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization techniques, and query optimization
Experience with database security best practices and user access controls
Experience with database performance monitoring and optimization tools
Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for database automation (preferred)
Experience with data backup and recovery procedures
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred)
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator
