Role Description:
The role Data Security Engineer will be part of the IT Security Services Delivery (ITSSD) team, focused on defending
Munich Re companies through improved data security and access controls for unstructured data. The successful candidate
is a professional with a background in IT security, data security or risk management operations in a large global business
environment facing numerous international regulatory requirements. The candidate s knowledge of server, NAS, and
SharePoint file system access security theory provides leadership and confidence to colleagues and businesses within the
Munich Re Group globally.
To ensure the successful delivery of unstructured data management security services, you will collaborate closely with
internal stakeholders, including data owners and asset owners. Leveraging your experience working with both technical
and non-technical colleagues, you will provide proactive solutions and guidance to business units on effective methods and
practices for safeguarding the organization s unstructured data assets against unauthorized access and misuse. Your
expertise will also help ensure proper accountability and oversight of access privileges to these data assets.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
The Data Security Engineer will:
Be proficient in the use of Varonis DatAdvantage or Varonis SaaS and all sub-systems and services for report
configuration, generation and ad hoc queries, and governance of shares via Varonis DAG.
Expert in Server Administration, which include Active Directory, Power Shell scripting, file system management
(NTFS, DFS, Linux mount Point), file & folder sharing, permission modifications, etc.
Be a subject matter specialist in Unstructured Data Management access security best practices, and provide such
technical guidance for both technical and business customers; offer analysis and solutions for de-risking and better
securing unstructured data through application of effective access security controls.
Establish relationships with internal customers and provide unstructured data access security consulting services and
guidance; develop, execute, and provide access security entitlement review reports and reporting methods to internal
business customers as well as lead access security remediation efforts in line with company best practices.
Adhere to measures, methods, and quality criteria which are necessary to deliver and manage the service and
products, including steering, reporting, and escalating processes in order to ensure service delivery; perform
continuous improvement assessments for the Unstructured Data Management service and proactive implement
changes where required.
Perform tasks including, but not limited to, incident support for access security analysis and remediation activities
(A&R), access security detections and forensics, root cause analysis, process improvement, alerts monitoring, work
with technical administrators, developers, and security personnel to review findings; when required, act as first
escalation point of contact for P1-P2 incidents related to the service.
Continuous prioritization and burndown of backlog items.

Key Competencies & Skills required
Technical Skills:
2+ years of experience with Varonis, either operationally or architecturally
preferred
Prior experience in a global company with strong knowledge of complex IT
organizations
Knowledge / Experience on ServiceNow
Understanding of network protocols, network architecture, enterprise IT
infrastructure components and common cyber security technologies
Experience with AWS and Azure cloud environments
Familiarity with encryption standards and technologies
Must have:
Fluent in English communication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate and
collaborate with global teams
Strong planning, organizational and presentation skills
Strong self-starter with innate curiosity to develop and improve customer support
processes
Ability to explain the technical issues and its solution
Behavioral Skills:
Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to changing requirements.
Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and options
Previous Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Educational
Qualification:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science / Engineering/ Information
Technology
Certification if any: Candidate with minimum one Cyber security certifications
Years Experience & Knowledge:
2+ years of experience in Cyber security, IT Security, Data Security, or IT risk
management
2+ years of experience in server administration
