We are seeking a 'Data Scientist - Computational Biology'. We leverage data science and multi-omics data to discover, optimize and develop novel traits, chemistry products and biologicals. As a Data Scientist, you will be part of a diverse team of Data Scientists and Analysts. A critical aspect of this position involves working with global teams across multiple locations. Communication and teamwork are key elements of this role; excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The hiring level will be commensurate with years of experience.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple projects involving several computational modules to process different data types and application areas
• Plan, design, develop and deploy bioinformatics pipelines for sequence data analysis
• Perform computational biology analyses using genome scale data
• Integrate and analyse multiple datatypes in the context of experimental observations with a goal towards formulating testable hypothesis
• Understanding the research questions from experimental biologists and formulate relevant in silico analyses.
• Establish systematic analysis workflows starting from processing of raw data to biological interpretation and hypothesis generation
• Identify and generate datasets for scientific testing and evaluation of algorithms
• Communicate the results, interpretations and conclusions of bioinformatics analysis projects including the confidence of predictions and suggest relevant/potential experiments for confirming computational analysis-based predictions

• Master's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Functional Genomics, Computer Science with 5-7 years of work experience in corporate setting.
• Strong working experience in scientific computing (distributed computing, workflow management, Version control) using Python is required.
• Experience in additional programming languages and technologies is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in high performance computing and cloud technologies including AWS, Kubernetes.
• Experience in development of bioinformatics software or large-scale computational biology pipelines and databases demonstrated through publications or similar.
• Experience in NGS datasets and different areas of genome sequence analysis including genome assembly, alignment, variant calling, gene structure and gene function annotation methods and tools.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) are a must.
